Port

Port pada komputer berfungsi sebagi antarmuka antara komputer satu dengan komputer yang lain. Pertama kali komputer dekstop diciptakan, memiliki dua port yaitu port serial dan port parallel. Pasangan kabel mouse, keyboard, dan monitor harus sesuai dengan portnya.

Pada bagian depan CPU komputer, terdapat port diantaranya :
1. Tombol Power 
Berfungsi untuk menghidupkan komputer
2. Tombol Reset
Berfungsi untuk merestart komputer atau proses booting. Proses booting dibedakan menjadi dua yaitu :
a. Warm booting : keadaan dimana komputer sebelum dialiri arus listrik
b. Cold booting   : keadaan dimana komputer setelah dialiri arus listtrik
3. CD/DVD-ROM/RM drive
Berfungsi untuk menyimpan atau membaca data dengan media CD atau DVD
4. Front Port
Terdiri dari USB port, firewire, audio digunakan untuk menghubungkan sound, headset, dan juga microphone.
5. Hard drive LED (lampu indikator)
Berfungsi untuk menandakan aktivitas hardisk dan aktivitas pemprosesan data.

Pada bagian belakang CPU, juga terdapat beberapa port diantaranya :
1. Power supply
Digunakan untuk mengaliri arus listrik kedalam CPU
2. Port serial
Digunakan untuk melakukan transmisi data yang berorientasi pada pengiriman bit per waktu.
3. Port parallel
Digunakan untuk pengiriman data dengan cepat tetapi harus menggunakan kabel yang pendek (tidak lebih dari 15 kaki)
4. Port PS/2
Digunakan untuk menghubungkan keyboard dan mouse. Port untuk keyboard berwarna ungungu sedangkan untuk mouse berwarna hijau.
5. Port USB
Port ini merupakan port multi fungsi yang dapat digunakan pada beberapa perangkat seperti mouse, keyboard, modem.
6. Port VGA/AGP
Port yang berhubungan langsung dengan monitor
7. Port audio
Port yang berhubungan langsung dengan peralatan audio
8. Port LAN
Port yang berhubungan dengan jaringan internet komputer melalui konektor RJ45.
9. Port modem
Port yang digunakan untuk koneksi internet melalui line telepon (dial up) dengan konektor RJ11.

CARA PENGGUNAAN KOMPUTER YANG BENAR 

1. Cara menyalakan komputer dengan benar 

a. Pastikan semua kabel telah terpasang dengan benar

b. Hidupkan stabilizer dan UPS 

c. Tekan tombol power pada CPU

d. Pada start awal proses booting, komputer melakukan identifikasi komponen hardware

e. Komputer mulai menjalankan sistem operasi 

f. Setelah proses booting selesai, komputer akan langsung masuk ke tampilan desktop

2. Cara mematikan komputer dengan benar 

a. Menutup semua aplikasi yang telah selesai digunakan dan jangan lupa untuk menyimpannya.

b. Klik start pada taskbar, lalu pili shut down atau turn off

c. Tunggu sampai sistem operasi selesai
